Shortly after the format war eded, Apple and Microsoft had to admit they need Blu Ray players / recorders for their next-generation products. And also some tools for normal people to use with already bought products. Especially laptops.

 Time Warner division Warner Bros announced it will exclusivelly support Blu-Ray technology over HD DVD, choosing Sony over Toshiba & Co. Warner Brothers is still the biggest seller of DVDs in Hollywood, with 18-20 percent of all sales in the United States. “We expect HD DVD to ‘die’ a quick death, versus a prolonged format war,” Pali Capital analyst Rich Greenfield said, quoted by Reuters.
