Google Chrome, the new browser

Take that, Microsoft! Google has unveiled its own Web browser, Google Chrome. The free browser is expected to be available in more than 100 countries with a beta version in more than 40 languages. Available video highlights searching on Google Chrome and how to use tabs.

    Software company Opera has developed a version of its flagship web browser to work with Android, the Google-backed open source mobile operating system. The company has released a technical preview of the software and says it is “inviting the Android development community to test the fresh build and share feedback with Opera for the forthcoming beta.” (more…)

  • Skyfire, a new start-up, shows at Demo ‘08 a new Windows Mobile interface that looks exactlly like iPhone’s browsing app. The company praises this “new” and revolutionary interface for windows gadgets.   • Netscape Navigator pronounced dead

    Ten years after MS lauched Internet Explorer and Netscape fortunes started to slide, AOL announced it is finally pulling the plug on the Netscape browser. The start of the saga dates back to 1994, when a University of Illinois student named Marc Andreessen founded a company called Netscape Communications, after taking the world by storm with the NCSA Mosaic browser.   • Microsoft plans to release the first beta of the next version of Internet Explorer in the first half of 2008, and said that IE 8 has passed a key test, “Acid2 Browser Test” from the Web Standards Project, which shows whether a browser renders a Web site in a certain way.
