Google.org announced $10.25 million in investments in a breakthrough energy technology called Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), which expands the potential of geothermal energy by orders of magnitude. Microsoft announced it will support four academic research projects focused on energy efficiency in computing in the areas of datacenter power efficiency, power management and the creation of parallel computing architecture with decreased power demands. Patrick Moore helped found Greenpeace, which fought nuclear proliferation and promoted environmental causes. But now he is an outspoken advocate of nuclear power as well as a critic of the environmental movement.
