Taiwanese company Asusteklaunches it’s first touchscreen smartphone, Asus P565. It calls it “fastest terminal in the world” because it has an 800MHz processor. The touchscreen has a new interface, Glide, wich competes with TouchFlo from HTC and other similar software. Asus brings a 2.8″ LCD screen, 480×640 pixels and a 3 megapixel photo camera. It has 128 MB DDR RAM memory.
The phone is built on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition and it has HSDPA (3G+) technology for broadband connections, 3.6 Mbps, and alos WiFi conectivity. (more…)

Ninety-eight percent of iPhone subscribers use at least one mobile data service according to market research firm The Nielsen Company’s Q3 2008 U.S. iPhone Executive Overview. Seventy percent of iPhone users listen to audio tracks on their device, with 39 percent downloading music directly to the handset–66 percent of users download software and applications, and 35 percent screen video content, which Nielsen says makes them seven times as likely as the typical mobile subscriber. The new HTC-manufactured Dream - Android - Google - G1 smartphone is 10 percent cheaper to produce than Apple’s iPhone 3G, one of the G1’s principal competitors. The study found that the G1 - the first handset to be based on Google’s Android mobile operating system - carries a ‘Bill of Materials’ (BOM) cost of US$143.89. The firm previously estimated iPhone 3G’s BOM cost to be around US$173 at launch and now around US$160. (more…)

GeoSIM, the international SIM card supplier, has introduced the “SIM PIG”, a SIM Card like chip that bypasses the network lock on mobile phones, thus enabling any SIM card from any network to be used in a locked handset. It was announced today that the new version of the unlocking chip SIMable adds full support for 85% of the world’s mobile phones, including the infamous iPhone 3G, and all other smartphones. As reported by IT PRO, the iPhone 3G has achieved a market share of 17% in the US, making it second only to Motorola’s RAZR V3. With no unlocking software yet available, and the product just launched on Prepay, the demand for a stable and easy unlocking solution is phenomenal. (more…)

Fortune says: In its first month on the market, Apple’s iPhone 3G has sold 3 million units, says Michael Cote of Cote Collaborative, far surpassing the performance of the first-generation iPhone after its first month in 2007. “They are seeing unprecedented demand,” said the former T-Mobile executive, whom Fortune’s Steve Morritz claims has been “extremely accurate” with his wireless predictions. I can bet this blog on it: we will see the iPhone 2.0 with Windows Mobile 6.1 in the next couple of weeks. I’m so sure, in fact I think some people at Microsoft are already thinking what I’m thinking… This will further promote Windows Mobile. It’s like running you MacBook on Windows. Why would you buy a Mac in the first place??
