Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer characterized Windows 7 as an improved version of Windows Vista this week, prompting the question of why consumers and businesses should adopt Microsoft’s current operating system, says PC Magazine. Speaking at a Gartner-sponsored conference in Florida, Ballmer was asked what would make consumers and businesses buy Vista. Microsoft Corp., the world’s largest developer of software, plans to unveil more details regarding its Windows 7 operating system and even provide select software developers pre-beta versions of the forthcoming OS in late October at its Professional Developers Conference, says X-bit.
Microsoft recently announced that at this year’s PDC, keynote attendees will be among the first to receive the pre-beta build of Windows 7. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to attend 21 different sessions that drill down into the details of developing for Windows 7. (more…)

I can bet this blog on it: we will see the iPhone 2.0 with Windows Mobile 6.1 in the next couple of weeks. I’m so sure, in fact I think some people at Microsoft are already thinking what I’m thinking… This will further promote Windows Mobile. It’s like running you MacBook on Windows. Why would you buy a Mac in the first place??

(HTC), one of the top players in Microsoft Windows Mobile-based smart devices, has announced that it will showcase its high-end Touch Cruise GPS-enabled mobile phone along with other smartphones and innovative data convergence devices such as the HTC Shift, the only always connected mobile computer, during GITEX Saudi Arabia 2008, the 7th International IT exhibition in KSA being held from April 20-24, 2008, in Riyadh. Gartner Symposium in Las Vegas launched a warning to Microsoft: Windows may collapse. Maybe that’s why Bill Gates announced it will speed up new Windows Version. I think the operating system still has a future because of the games industry. Vista was bad, but Microsoft can deliver a new Xp-like system, light but powerfull. Let’s see.

Windows Mobile is improving smartphones to better meet people’s rapidly expanding work and personal needs, Microsoft Corp. today announced. At CTIA Wireless 2008, the company unveiled the newest version of Internet Explorer Mobile, which adds desktop-grade Web browsing to Windows Mobile phones. In addition, Microsoft announced Windows Mobile 6.1, an update for its Windows Mobile software that includes new time-saving features, easier phone navigation and management, and increased security safeguards. PCs from Hewlett-Packard, Gateway, Lenovo, and other major computer makers that contain a widely used Intel chipset can’t be upgraded to Windows Vista Service Pack 1 if they’re running certain drivers, says colleagues from InformationWeek. This camer after many users complain that SP1 is actually blocking PC’s instead of optimizing the operating system.

Sprint announced a world-roaming smartphone that looks like BlackBerry, the BlackJack, or Nokia E61i, but it’s uglier. Samsung Ace looks like BlackJack but offers dual-mode CDMA/GSM functionality so you can use your smartphone internationally. This means that the Ace will use Sprint’s CDMA network for all domestic calls, and then you can use the included SIM card to make calls on GSM networks abroad. (more…)
